Provincial Governments of Canada basically funds and manages the education system in Canada. There are basically three types of educational institutes. Universities, Community Colleges and Private College.

Academic Entry Requirement

Master’s: Student must have completed 16 years of full-time education and he/she should have above 65% in bachelor’s

Bachelor’s: Student must have completed 12 years of full-time education and he/she should have above 60% in class 12th

PG Diploma: Student must have completed 15 years of full-time education and he/she should have above 50%-55% in graduation

UG Diploma: Student must have completed 12 years of full-time education and he/she should have above 50%-55% in class 12th

English language requirement

For bachelor’s program IELTS requirement is of 6.5 band overall with no band less than 6/5.5.

For Masters (Level 9) IELTS requirement is of 6.5 band overall with no band less than 6.

Intakes

Generally, there are 3 major intakes in Canada and these are January, May and September. But still there are some limited intakes during other months also like April, July and October.

Part Time Work

Canada offers various opportunities for international students to work part-time during their studies. Working while studying can be a great way to support yourself financially, gain valuable work experience, and improve your language skills.

Part time work on or off campus is available for students in Canada. During the academic session students can work for 20 hours per week and full time during the scheduled break.

Many programs in Canada have inbuilt internship program of 1 to 2 semester which provides an excellent opportunity to students to get exposure and experience in the industry of their study area.

There are several ways to find out part time jobs in Ireland like University job portals, Job website, Recruitment agencies, Networking etc. Some common part time jobs include Hospitality (Café, Restaurants, Hotels), Retails (Work in Malls, Supermarket, stores etc), customer service (position in call centre, retail support, tech support etc), Tutoring, On campus jobs (library assistance, lab assistance, research assistance etc).

The minimum wage in Canada varies by province or territory. It generally ranges from $11 to $16 per hour (CAD), but in major cities like Toronto or Vancouver, it may be closer to $14–$16 per hour. The wage you earn will depend on the industry, job type, and location, but students can expect to earn at least the minimum wage.

Post study work visa

Key points on Post Study Work Visa;

  • International students must have completed full time study of at least eight months preceding the completion of their program and should have graduated from a designated learning institution to be eligible for post study work visa.
  • If the program is more than 8 months and less than 2 years then the post study work visa will be issued of the same length as that of the study.
  • If the program duration is of 2 years or more then the post study work visa will be issued up to 3 years.
  • For master’s program post study work visa is of 3 years.
  • Student must apply for post study work visa within 180 days of getting the final marksheet from the academic institutions.
