Government universities: There are almost 8 government universities in New Zealand. These universities are;

Academic Entry Requirement

The entry requirement for bachelors UG course varies from 65 % to 75% in aggregate for students in class 12th. For master’s it varies from 50 % to 65 % in graduation.

English language requirement

For under graduate diploma (Level 6) IELTS requirement is of 6 band overall with no band less than 5.5. For bachelors (Level 7) IELTS requirement is of 6 band overall with no band less than 5.5. For graduate diploma (Level 7) IELTS requirement is of 6 band overall with no band less than 5.5. For Post graduate diploma (Level 8) IELTS requirement is of 6.5 band overall with no band less than 6. And for Masters (Level 9) IELTS requirement is of 6.5 band overall with no band less than 6.

Intakes

Generally, there are 2 intakes in New Zealand. One in February and other in July. However, ITP’s and private institutes have multiple intakes. It is highly recommended to start the application at least 6 months prior so that there is not minute rush.

Part Time Work

Students can work part time in New Zealand. During classes they can work 20 hours/week and during holidays they can work 40 hours/week. Students undertaking the course of 12 months or more can work full time during holidays. If a student is studying a full-time course of level 7 or 8 in areas as specified in the long-term skill shortage list/green list, their spouse can work full time during the course duration. Also, spouse of students studying level 9 can work full time without any such conditions.

Post study work visa

Students get 3 years post study work visa for Bachelor courses (Level 7), Master courses (Level 9) and PhD level (Level 10). Students studying in postgraduation diploma (Level 8) can work for 1 year post study. And student with undergraduate diploma (Level 5 & Level 6) and graduate diploma can work only during the duration of the program.
